A Diary of Impending Insanity

I've always known that someday I would have to write this post, and that day has sadly come. Linda, aka sindahise, has died.

Some of you may not have known her, or of her, but many of you were extremely intimate with the brilliant universes she created. The Eagle's Nest trilogy and RPG, the Keep it Secret universe, and massive amounts of LotR Gen, are only a few. But, there was so much more to her life before LJ. Linda published a very successful fanzine before the Internet made them almost obsolete, centering around worlds such as Combat and Rat Patrol. Even before that, she was a successful television screenwriter, writing for Simon & Simon and Knight Rider. She was also a contributing writer and interviewer for TV Guide Magazine.

Linda never married, but had a long-term relationship with an Air Force officer, Paul. He was killed by a drunk driver while they lived in Texas, and after his death, she couldn't bring herself to date. She and her twin sister Lil always lived together, moving around the country; Minnesota, Louisiana, Texas, and finally Washington State.

Not too long after she and I became friends (September of 2004,) Linda told me that she didn't expect to live another 10 years. MS was slowly, but surely wreaking havoc on her body, and uncontrollable diabetes systematically attacked her organs. The last 2 years had been increasingly hard, and she was in and out of the hospital so many times that I lost count. About 2 months ago, she began having hospice care in her home, and about 4 weeks ago she entered a hospice house, where she remained until she died, yesterday at noon. She told me that it was a lovely place, and that she was being well cared for. That deer and rabbits made regular visits to her window in the morning. She was able to eat just about anything she wanted, and found a new love for blueberry smoothies.

Those of you who knew her, knew how passionate she was about her writing, and especially her characters. Some of our last conversations were about Eagle's Nest. Even when her hands began to fail her, and her mind couldn't focus enough to write, she would talk as if she were planning another book. She never gave up that hope.

So, thank you, Linda, for 9 years of a friendship that was a constant roller coaster. You made me laugh, you made me cry; you made me think, you gave me encouragement and confidence in my writing; you forced me to push myself in directions I never thought I'd go. You were my friend, and I, as most of those reading this, will miss you.

Sleep well, Puma.

Take 12:55 out of your day to watch this, then share it far and wide. If only one person is helped by this video, it will be well worth it.

Greetings, Earthlings.

I've decided for the first time in over 5 years to do a little flist culling. If you're seeing this, then chances are pretty darn good you're not going anywhere, as I'm only cutting those who haven't participated on LJ for over a year, with the exception of a few. I figured if someone's been gone that long, the chances of a return engagement are slim. *blows kisses to long-ago friends*

That being said, if you would like to cut me from your flist, if our interests have gone in different directions, please feel free to do so. No hard feelings in the least...Life Changes.

*hugs you all*

Came across a post today that gives a lot of good information about what Dreamwidth has to offer. Take a look:

Greetings, Earthlings.

I've been fortunate enough to be allowed to participate in the Dreamwidth beta, being conducted until April 30th. I've haven't had the time to poke around as much as I'd like to, but will within the next couple of days. I'll report back here periodically, letting you know what I think. I'm really excited about Dreamwidth as a replacement/alternative to LJ and I think you will be as well.

Kitty update! I'll start with the good news.

The third and final kitten was caught tonight after three days of striking out. I am thrilled that we were able to get all the kittens before the mother; now I can rest knowing that they're all in a safe place. This last one looks very similar to Kitty Number 2, another black and white Tuxedo.

We immediately took Number 3 to the rescue woman, who I have dubbed St. Suzette. Number 2, who has yet to be named because he/she is quite underdeveloped and no one can identify the sex yet, is extremely thin and is just now relaxed enough to start eating regularly. We're hoping that the presence of the third kitten will be comforting, as sweet Emma, Kitten Number 1 seems to be a loner. She's grown leaps and bounds since I dropped her off two weeks ago, but doesn't want to be around any of the other cats. :(

The very sad thing is now I have the mother, kittenless, loudly roaming the street in search of her babies. When we put tonight's capture in the car, Mom was sitting on the far end of our driveway calling for her baby. Heartbreaking! I tried to coax her to me, even using the kitten as bait, but no luck. The poor thing has been on the streets too long and doesn't trust a soul. The trap is set, and hopefully we'll have her by morning, and off to the shelter where she'll be spayed and hopefully, with any luck, rehabilitated into a cat that someone will be willing to adopt.

It's all gone to plan so far, let's just hope the final piece of the puzzle falls into place.

Professional Cat Wrangler. :)

Good news on the feral cat front: Yesterday we caught one of the black and white adults, although I'm not sure if it's the mother. The poor thing remained crouched the entire time we had it, making it impossible to identify. When my hubby took it to the shelter they whisked it away too fast to get an answer. *sighs*

Then, this morning, we found we had another one of the kittens. This one is black, with white socks. Very cute, but far more upset/angry/untouchable than the first one we caught. Who, by the way, has been named Emma by the rescue woman. *glee*

I'll get to see Emma today, when we take this newest kitten to the Rescue. By all reports she is doing well, although still wanting nothing to eat but kitten milk.

I shall report back. :)

Literally 5 minutes ago, I got a call from a lady who does kitten rescues in my area! The sweet baby girl is on her way to a loving home, where she'll will be cared for!

Thanks to all of you who helped, offering advice and support!

*massive hugs of relief!*

I have a kitten. *sighs* It's a very long story, involving a neighborhood stray who is now on her third litter, that I know of. One of her most recents found its way into our backyard and is now being lovingly cared for. The problem is, as much as I want to keep it, I can't. My cat, Frank, has feline HIV and can't be near other cats. *sighs more*

So.......the purpose of this post is to offer said female beauty to anyone on my list...or friends of friends who live ANYWHERE in Southern California. I'll deliver! The catch is, it has to be done today. To tempt, here is a picture, very similar to what she looks like. She is at least 7 weeks old and is very lively and curious.

...because, I just have to confess.

Let me catch my breath, as this admission is extremely personal and yes, heartbreaking. But, the simple fact of the matter is:

I am
the father of Anna Nicole's baby.

I know, I know, it comes as a shock to you all, but I had to stake my claim publicly, before Michael Jackson and Elvis beat me to it.
